Liedekerke promotes Bruno Hardy to Partner in international arbitration

Liedekerke is delighted to announce the promotion of Bruno Hardy to Partner, effective 1 January 2024. 

Bruno is part of our International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution Practice and represents clients in international arbitrations in engineering & construction, energy, corporate/ M&A, and commercial contracts disputes. 

His experience in international arbitration covers numerous jurisdictions and rules. Bruno has acted in disputes subject to the laws of Belgium, England & Wales, Switzerland, Lebanon, Qatar, the UAE, Ku- wait, Algeria, and the DRC, among others, in proceedings under the rules of the ICC, LCIA, SIAC, ICSID, CEPANI, the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce and UNCITRAL. 

Bruno has a knack for complex technical issues. He has assisted clients in arbitrations involving IT en- gineering, geotechnical engineering and hydraulic engineering, but also financial statements and frauds analysis, and disputes related to complex pharmaceutical products. In the construction and energy in- dustry, Bruno often assists clients in relation to large infrastructure projects with delay and disruption claims, with a marked experience in the Middle East and Africa. 

He also assists clients in multi-jurisdiction disputes and arbitration-related court proceedings. He has recently acted for and against investors, sovereign States and International Organizations in enforce- ment and setting aside proceedings raising novel and cutting-edge questions of international arbitration and public international law. 

In addition to his work in international arbitration, Bruno is part of Liedekerke’s ESG Solutions team. He advises clients on legal issues at the crossroads of public and private international law in contentious and non-contentious matters and is pursuing a PhD at KU Leuven University (Belgium) on the interna- tional enforcement of public laws. Prior to that, Bruno also worked as an Assistant Lecturer in Private International Law at the University of Brussels (ULB). 

He has studied in New York (Columbia Law School), Geneva (UNIGE) and Louvain-la-Neuve (UCL), and is fluent in French, English and Spanish. 

Bruno has been recognized as a Rising Star for several years in the Legal 500 (Dispute Resolution, EMEA), and as a “Future Leader” in Arbitration by Who’s Who Legal. He is described by clients as “a hard-working lawyer with an excellent understanding of arbitration” with “impeccable” time manage- ment skills, praised for “taking a clinical approach to all facets of the dispute”, and an “excellent law- yer” “capable of handling large claims under many different laws”. Bruno is also ranked in the Legal 500 “Arbitration Powerlist – Benelux”.
