We are hiring a Group Coordinator Tax.

The Group Coordinator is a new position at Loyens & Loeff. Loyens & Loeff’s law and tax practice is divided into eight Expertise Groups. Partners and Associates are organized in Expertise Groups which focus on developing and delivering specific legal and tax knowledge and expertise. The two tax Expertise Groups together form the Cluster Tax. The Group Coordinator role is aimed at ensuring the effective organization of the Expertise Group, which includes management of operational processes and supporting on activities that touch upon the core of the firm’s business. The Group Coordinator Tax will closely cooperate with and report to the Expertise Group Lead and the Operations Manager Tax.

Your responsibilities:

The main task is to support the Partners to run an effective Expertise Group. As such, the Group Coordinator will support day-to-day operations of the Expertise Group and execution and implementation of (strategic) projects aimed at improving the effectiveness of the Expertise Group and the firm. You are expected to take a proactive role in considering improvement initiatives regarding the effective organization of the Expertise Group.

You act as an advisor to the people in the Expertise Group. You are sometimes expected to lead, and often support, the implementation of various policies for the Expertise Group. For implementation of initiatives, the Group Coordinator will cooperate closely with the Partners, Team Assistants, Associates, and colleagues in the Business Functions depending on the initiative. You are expected to have a sound understanding of the tax services offered by the Expertise Group. You are expected to fulfil many aspects of your role highly independently, although you can rely on coaching from the Operations Manager to support you in your development, and for advice concerning specific matters.

You are expected to align frequently with Group Coordinators of the Expertise Group in other Home Markets, and other Expertise Groups, on (work) processes, implementation of projects and organizational effectiveness. Additionally, in relation to key processes or implementation of projects that are relevant for the Expertise Group, you will cooperate with other colleagues in the Business Functions: Marketing, IT Support, Finance & Control, Commercial & Legal Excellence, HR, and Legal Risk & Compliance. Where relevant, you are expected to coach (more junior) Group Coordinators in their development.

Key responsibilities of the Group Coordinator further include:

  • supporting on fee proposals and engagement letters (where relevant);
  • coordinating billing to clients (where relevant);
  • overseeing daily matter staffing of Associates and analyze the Expertise Group’s performance and workload;
  • holding a social and HR role within the Group, including the organization of social activities (or supporting in the organization thereof, in cooperation with Team Assistants);
  • delivering input regarding hiring, performance and functioning of Associates;
  • being the first point of contact for Associates regarding HR questions;
  • preparing (Partner) meetings.

This vacancy suits you, because you are or have: 

  • experience with working in a global, multi-country context;
  • experience in a law firm or other professional services firm;
  • a perfect knowledge of Dutch or French, you are fluent in English, and you have minimum a good passive knowledge of Dutch or French;
  • holding a relevant Master degree;
  • expected to have at least 2+ years of relevant working experience;
  • understanding of the legal and tax services industry;
  • proven success in leading and managing processes within a team;
  • ability to cooperate with colleagues across different departments and countries, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment;
  • experience and affinity with commercial initiatives;
  • ability to leverage data and prepare insightful reporting.
